The WIld Leek or Ramps

Wonderful Leeks.

The month of May brings on many wonderful edibles and I am always excited to start my ventures out in to the woods to find these and many other edibles.

This irresistible wild onion has a mild flavor and I use the leafs and bulbs in soups and salads.

What we are looking for:

  •  Slightly shiny green tear dropped leafs in patches or clumps.
  • A white bulb in the dirt that has the scent of onion.
  • Small roots will be growing out of this scented bulb.
A very clear description of this can be found at The Forager Press LLC.
