- Height is from 5 to 12 inches.
- Outside is honey comb shape (note the photos).
- They are yellow, grey or blond.
- When slicing a Morel down the middle they are always hollow.
- Check your Elm Trees in Vermont.

As you see here the Morel has been sliced and is hollow from the top of the mushroom through the stem.

Always be 100% sure of the mushroom you are picking and always cook your mushrooms.

The way to harvest these mushrooms is by slicing them with your knife at the bottom and leaving the small bulb at the bottom to grow in the ground. As you will notice these were not cut correctly, as often to identify a mushroom you will need to pull up the bulb in order to confirm the description throughout the whole mushroom. Once you become accustomed to what they look like, you no longer need to do this.
BE CAREFUL of the False Morel.
The false morel will not be hollow inside and will look like brains.
